Oracle Applications(TM) Release 11 Previews at OAUG Conference

Advances in Globalization, Self-Service Web Functionality, Multimode Manufacturing, Networked Supply Chain Capabilities, Industry-Specific Features

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Oracle Applications(TM) User Group (OAUG) conference today, Oracle Corp. began previewing Oracle(R) Applications Release 11, the major new version of its enterprise business applications suite due in early 1998. Nearly 7,000 Oracle Applications users are expected to be on hand as the company takes the wraps off the broadest functional upgrade in its history.

Among the benefits users can expect from Release 11 are leading edge globalization support; third-generation self-service capabilities; best practices application of workflow to optimize transaction flows and business procedures; support for networked supply chain operations that allow planning beyond the enterprise; extended multimode manufacturing for both project and flow manufacturing; innovative human resources career management functionality; and lower-cost implementations through a self-guiding Implementation Wizard.

"Oracle will be sharing all aspects of Release 11 with us at our forum, with virtually its entire product management team on hand to explain the new functionality."

In the area of globalization, for example, Oracle Applications will now offer multiple reporting currencies, cross currency transactions, and improved support of the European Monetary Union. With further functionality added for Eastern Europe and Latin America, Release 11 now brings the number of countries supported with specific local features to more than 40, and the number of languages to 28, all in a common software base. Adding to the efficiency of global financial operations are new global consolidation and centralized transaction approval systems that will enable companies to conduct a much faster global close.

With Oracle Applications Release 11, Oracle Self-Service Web Applications will enter their third generation with more than 20 new business flows, taking the total to now more than 70. Oracle Web Customers offers an improved Internet storefront, while Oracle Web Employees includes new time- and cost- saving features such as a new laptop expense reporting system.

For manufacturing customers, Oracle Applications Release 11 offers new multimode manufacturing styles for Project Manufacturing, important for customers in industries such as Aerospace & Defense and Construction and others with make-to-order projects. Release 11 will also offer Flow Manufacturing for customers in work-orderless, repetitive environments. To help customers manage fulfillment, Oracle Applications will support Advanced Shipment and Departure Planning capabilities.
